Eddie Albert, “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” 1966. Oliver Wendell Douglas could sing a song, yo. I saw this in the comments on Gawker’s post about Ke$ha’s Dylan cover, and enjoyed listening to it so much, this is almost an un-ironic posting of a really fine, straight reading of the material.
Hearing stuff like this always makes me wonder what material today’s TV stars would do, if they too were able to make an lp record as part of corporate synergy. Stars of the 50s and 60s covered the hits of the day—when almost anybody on television or in the movies who could read or play charts got to cut an album, which was then released by the “record” division of their studio or network.
